With web 2.0 being used more and more as a buzz word about the internet and users sining up to more and more services, how much of our privacy are we loosing?
Google knows what we search for, mypace knows what we like, youtube knows what we like to watch.
The report also looks at how these web 2.0 start ups plan to make money and their reliance upon advertising.

This is nothing new. I recall studying web data mining five years ago in college. The concept of tailoring advertising to specific users was going on long before web 2.0 even existed.

Very interesting article. I have had similar thoughts of my own for quite some time, albeit my thoughts and knowledge of the phenomenon was very small when i originally wrote about it.

I just (earlier this morning in fact) treated myself to a little glimpse at Google Calender and it is really tempting to start using it. That's the problem with all these services. They are all so so good, stylish and have a very high level of usability. I am very close to surrendering to Flickr, del.icio.us and Google.

    I'm exactly the same.
Google calendar is what I use for my calendar and notifications of events now.
Remember the milk knows what I need to do.
Bubbleshare has all my photo albums on it.
Flickr has my favourite photos on it (without people on them)
Writely has some documents I needed to work on quickly between home and college.
Google spreadsheets has some of my Grade calculations from when i was playing with it.
Newsvine knows what news I like to write and what I feel about certain topics.

That's a lot of information about me on the web - however when doing a google search on my name, it doesn't bring up my blog which I hardly add to any longer and its when searching for some of the usernames I use that bring up the most results - its hidden from some people who may be trying to find it, but not if they know what the two common usernames I use are.
