Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh Talk THE HOBBIT

advertisement

There's a few stories about how Peter Jackson won't be doing the films of The Hobbit. On theonering.net they have a letter from PJ saying some of the information around this.

Moments ago we received this email from Peter Jackson and his crew down in New Zealand, take a look...

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Quite frankly, if they were going to agree to a "LOTR Prequel" -- I'm glad they got booted. Here's hoping the loss of PJ and Walsh means that the planned prequel is dead in the water.

What a stupid, horrible idea.

I think maybe just doing The Hobbit could be a good idea and work quite well for those who enjoyed the films but haven't read any of the books.
Trying to drag it out into more films to form a prequel does seem a stupid idea and I hope that idea does end up dead in the water.

In our minds this is not the right reason to make a film and if a film of The Hobbit went ahead on this basis, it would be doomed.

Doomed if you do, PJ; doomed if you don't.
